Elementalists deal in all things elemental. They have access to conditional but powerful element damage bonuses, which users of multiple elements can benefit the most effectively from. They can also specialize in elemental status ailments with Shaper of Desolation, allowing them to apply elemental status ailments from all types of damage, even physical or chaos damage.

Other than Golems, the class' main claim to fame was proliferation and anti-elemental reflect. Now with reflect being an opt-in map modifier mechanic and ignites being nerfed heavily, Elementalist seems to have lost its place.

I played elementalist this league, I think elementalist isnt THAT bad, I went for mastermind of discord, double golem node, and paragon of calamity.

I was a poets pen VD character, I chose elementalist over inquis because with my gear I wasnt satisfied with my crit values on VD, and unlike cold spells which when going crit can freeze adding a large defensive layer, I was getting much better numbers as a elementalist with EO, I used elemental hit to proc mastermind of discord all the time, I was also using an elder chest that makes 10% of physical damage become fire. which means I was also pretty much always taking 8% reduced fire as well as getting 40% increased.

With all the minor nodes granted by ele, thats 40% elemental damage, fire golem/paragon grant another 80%, fire golems buff becomes 40+% so I think like another poster said, its not exactly that elementalist is bad, it gives you alot of % damage, its just that crit is really strong right now... you can get really good crit multi on jewels so even if you can make the enemy go -100 resistance, inquis is still just that much better when you get GG jewels.

I think the only nodes I dont really enjoy in the lists are the status ones because of status being gutted, and pendulum being just "I randomly get to do a ton more damage, but only for a bit!" if pendulum was more controlable it would be alot better of an ascendancy since with my numbers listed above if I could control when pend went off, the ascendancy alone would give me 250%+ damage which is ALOT of damage.

its pretty much just that the situation around elementalist is bad, and I hope they dont take away its theme of being just a raw noncrit powerhouse caster :(, I honestly dont see anything changing unless ignite gets buffed, you could give ele 100% extra increased damage, and people just still would not play it.
