Heidi Brock, president & CEO of the Aluminum Association, issued the following statement today following the Congressional
alucobond panel thickness Caucus briefing with Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.
“We
appreciate the Congressional Aluminum Caucus’ continued support for the
U.S. aluminum industry. Our members are grateful to have leaders in
Congress who help ensure that the views of the industry’s plants and
people are heard. The Aluminum Association and its member companies
continue to call on Secretary Ross and the administration for a final
Section 232 remedy that addresses its national security goals while also
supporting a thriving domestic aluminum industry. To that end, we are
calling for permanent, quota-free tariff exemptions for all countries
designated as market economies and for immediate
government-to-government negotiations with China to address persistent
aluminum overcapacity.
