Jagex is continuing QoL month with a top 10 skilling QoL poll at the end of next week. There are many desirable ideas on social media about Fishing Trawler which we will share with you. One point to be noted that the content Jagex will be offering is limited to quality of life. This means nothing too huge, and nothing requiring engine or graphics time.
Fishing Trawler needs a serious rework
Each game lasts 12 minutes, and the only experience you can earn on the boat is 5 crafting exp per rope that you repair the net with. Now the only reason anyone plays Fishing Trawler is for the angler outfit for master clues, which takes ~6.5 hours to obtain while receiving effectively no other rewards from the game.
Some possible improvements of Fishing Trawler as follows:
1. Shorten the game time. 5 minute games would be just fine.
2. Add experience drops for each action performed on the ship. Repairing the net should have a sizable reward, since few players ever take the time to repair it.
3. Increase the experience drop received at the end of the game. If each game gave 5,000 experience, it would be 25,000 exp/hour, which is still slower than afking monkfish.
4. Increase the number of fish each player receives for completing the game.
5. Remove the variance in receiving the angler outfit by adding a reward point system (eg. one point per run, Murphy will sell the player angler pieces for 8 points each).
6. A ripped net at the end of the 12 minute game currently means the entire team receives no fish. Get rid of this penalty.
7. Reduce the shop price of swamp paste. Too many players rely on bailing since the paste becomes so expensive at low stock.
