ON-SCREEN BEAUTY: 15 ICONIC BEAUTY MOMENTS IN FILM

The power of cinema is all about creating escapist magic, in which hair and makeup play a huge part in shaping whether it’s shaping a character’s fantastical sense of self or adding to the tone and setting of the film. Good movie beauty can even provide a cultural barometer for the trends of the past, present and the future and inspire Halloween costumes, personal makeovers and even entire fashion collections. To get more news about yellow video, you can visit our official website.

Below, we present 15 memorable hair and make-up looks on the silver screen that has gone on to shape how we perceive and admire beauty.A young Christina Ricci lit up the screen as dancer Layla who falls in love with her ex-con kidnapper, exuding a dreamy innocence in babydoll dresses and peach glossy lips. But what stuck with us most was her glittery sky-blue lids—reminiscent of the very first Barbie in 1959—which was obscurely perfect in the complicated American arthouse flick and taught us to never underestimate the power of colourful eyeshadow.

Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love served us a heartbreaking tale of unconsummated love, encapsulated by dimly lit ’60s Hong Kong aesthetics and the beautiful Maggie Cheung in an endless array of stylish high-necked cheongsams and immaculate beauty looks. Finely-flicked liner and perfectly filled-in brows framed her enigmatic gazed, while barely-there cherub cheeks and a softly coiffed updo elevated her look to achingly mesmerising effect. Matte lips completed her look in various shades from rosewood to soft plum and classic red, complimenting the kaleidoscopic variations of her elegant dresses.

Alongside its epic wardrobe of vintage designer to channel the late ’80s style of punked-out glam and Helmut Newton sensuality, Atomic Blonde also made a killer impression through its beauty looks. Alongside smokey feline eyes and icy-pink lips, Charlize Theron, who played an MI6 spy in 1989 divided Berlin, rocked a platinum blonde shag à la Debbie Harry—in textures both straight and wavy—that was fiercely sexy and effortlessly chic, even when those locks gained bloody-pink tips after that kickass stairwell fight scene that lasted a whole seven minutes.

Tom Ford’s directorial debut gave us a Christopher Isherwood adaptation that was full of dreamlike-cinematography, beguiling visuals and ’60s style. It also gave us Julianne Moore as the beautiful and balmy Charley with her mod graphic liner, doll-like lashes and crazy-voluminous top bun, who hypnotised us all when she traced those perfect lines along her upper and lower lashes in a steady fell swoop.

The opening scene of American Psycho gave us a lengthy monologue by the obsessively narcissistic Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), alongside his iconically extensive beauty regimen that introduced his next-level vanity to the world. The murderous Manhattan businessman’s psychotic 10-step skincare routine to maintain his hard-fought good looks was progressive for its time, and comprised of endless ‘gel scrubs’, an ice pack (if his face is puffy), a 10-minute ‘herb-mint facial mask’ and absolutely nothing with alcohol because it “dries your face out and makes your skin look older”.

The beauty transformation of Beyonce’s Deena Jones encapsulates the young singer’s journey to musical stardom. Her natural beauty shines at the beginning of the film with nothing but a touch of glossy lip balm, before culminating into full-blown disco glitter that illuminated her lids lime and turquoise and highlighted her face in silver for her One Night Only performance. Plus a shout out to those thick luscious lashes in her Diana Ross-inspired photo plastered on the recording company’s wall.

Audrey Hepburn’s most iconic on-screen fashion may have come from Breakfast at Tiffany’s but her best beauty moment was in comedy musical Funny Face. She played the shy, doe-eyed philosophy student Jo who gets discovered by a fashion photographer and transformed into a style icon. In it, Hepburn’s classic beauty and air of nonchalant glamour was immortalised through straight, groomed brows, her now-iconic cat-eye flick and painted lips as she models an array of stunning Givenchy-designed pieces against a definitively Parisian backdrop. Side note: And let’s not forget the fierce couture looks worn by OG supermodel Dovima in her cameo.

What Happened To Jasmine And Beauty?

Directed by Andrew Dosunmu, “Beauty” is a film about a black singer on the verge of fame in the 70s. The film attempts to comment on the damaging effects of the music industry, but it is too distant to invoke any feelings. Beauty is a young girl who has been groomed by her mother to become an extraordinary singer. Her mother was a church singer who was not as successful as she had hoped to be, so Beauty became her only hope. The film tries to bring forth how fame affected her relationship with her family and her lover, Jasmine. The film has a vagueness that does not essentially work in its favor. To get more news about Asian first class porn, you can visit our official website.

Beauty is in love with Jasmine/Jas, but she has to keep her relationship secret from her parents, who were staunch Christians. Only her brother Abel knows about their relationship, and he tries his best to protect his sister. Their half-brother, Cain, always tried to win the affection of their father and was distant from Beauty and Abel. Beauty’s father wanted her to be a commercial success, while her mother believed she needed more time to truly excel. Beauty never got the opportunity to form her own opinion. She was taught from a young age to obey every decision her parents made, even if she disagreed with them. Her father and her mother portrayed the image of a perfect family, but they were far from it. The husband and wife did not share a respectful marriage; the wife had to mostly submit to her husband’s dominance.

When a record company approached Beauty to sign a contract with them, her father was enthusiastic about it, but her mother wanted to keep her away from the exploitative industry. A fit of certain jealousy was anticipated by Beauty when her mother tried to object to her daughter’s journey to fame. It was only Jasmine who cared about Beauty, in all honesty. She challenged her to question the decisions made by her parents and even warned her how signing the contract would eventually change their relationship.

Jasmine had advised Beauty to find a lawyer for herself to better understand the contract. She announced this decision in front of her parents and the white representative of the music record company. Her father took her aside and threatened her to sign the contract because they had invested enough money and time in her, and she ought to respect their decision for her. Her father realized that it was Jasmine who had taught his daughter to think independently. Nonetheless, Beauty once again obeyed her father’s decision and signed the contract. Later that night, her father instructed Cain to get Jasmine away from his daughter. Even though he did not know about their relationship, their friendship threatened his position. Cain attempted to fulfill his father’s intention, and he asked Abel to join him. But in the end, Abel manages to drive the car off the road, and the two fight it out in the streets. Even though Cain was unable to perform the task his father had asked of him, Jasmine faced violence. While Jas was not into drugs, she went behind a bar with the bartender, who promised to provide the drugs that Beauty enjoyed. But the bartender physically assaulted her, and she was admitted to the hospital. Jasmine believed that they must live their separate lives because, some way or the other, their relationship seemed impossible for her to sustain, but Beauty refused to give up. After signing the contract, the two moved into an apartment in a city that was bought by the music record company (Colony).

Beauty prepared to be a pop star, and at the same time, she started to voice her opinion. The white woman (colonizer) at the music label company instructed the lovebirds to not display any affection in public. Beauty had to be a heterosexual fantasy that everyone would desire. Therefore, her sexuality had to remain hidden. Not just that, the kind of music she would make had to be loved by the black community, but it also had to make white teenagers obsess about her. Therefore, a certain whitewashing of her music was desired by them. They prepared her to answer questions in a docile manner and prompted her to mention how she was waiting for the right man to enter her life. She was advised to sport long black hair that was calculated to be the most desirable by the black community, but Beauty refused to wear her hair straight. She was proud of her curls and wanted to keep her hair short. She was taught to speak like a white woman and sing according to the taste of the whites. The colonizer had pictures of prominent black musicians, indicating how the “Colony” music label’s sole purpose was to make music made by black artists more likable to the white community. Even though she was shaped by the company, she tried to voice her opinion whenever she could.

The Hemostatic and Wound Healing Effect of Chitosan Following Debridement

Chitosan has been proven to be helpful in wound care as a hemostatic agent. The hemostatic effect is due to the positively charged chitosan interacting with negatively charged red blood cell membranes, initiating the agglutination of red blood cells and platelets. This promotes the activation of thrombin, which activates the clotting pathway, leading to thrombus formation. To get more news about IFAK, you can visit rusuntacmed.com official website.
Objective
Based on the properties of chitosan as a rapidly acting hemostatic agent, the authors sought to determine if a chitosan gelling fiber wound dressing could control bleeding of freshly debrided wounds. The effect of the chitosan dressing on overall healing and patient and provider satisfaction was also evaluated.

Materials and methods
Wounds of any etiology requiring sharp debridement in patients older than 18 years who were capable of consent were eligible. Wounds were sharply debrided by curettage, scalpel, electrosurgery, or a combination of methods. A chitosan dressing was applied to the freshly debrided wound with gentle pressure. The time from application to hemostasis as assessed by non-progression of blood pattern was measured. Other outcome measures also included digital photography, wound surface area, numerical pain scores, and Photographic Wound Assessment Tool (PWAT) scores. Patient and provider satisfaction were measured.
Results
Twenty patients with a variety of etiologies and ulcer types were evaluated. After debridement, wound bleeding was rated as mild (n=9), moderate (n=9), or severe (n=2). The mean time to hemostasis was 75 seconds ± 41 SD (range, 28-221 seconds). In 1 week, the mean wound area decreased from 6.9 cm2 ± 7.8 to 6.2 cm2 ± 7.9 and mean PWAT scores decreased from 17.7 ± 4.9 to 11.4 ± 5.0 (lower score indicates wound healing). Pain scores associated with wound debridement were reduced in all but 1 patient evaluated at week 1. Overall, the rating scores from the Patient Reported Acceptance Questionnaire (PRAQ) and Provider Acceptance Questionnaire (PAQ) developed by this research group were high. The mean total PRAQ score was 30.5 ± 3.9 out of 35 (35 being most satisfied). The PAQ score was 15 out of 15 for all but 1 patient (15 being most satisfied).

The Many Benefits of Smart Locks

Any listing agent or home building will tell you that a home’s curb appeal is important. When the prospective buyer pulls up in front of the house, that first impression can make or break a sale. But what about when the prospect leaves the car and walks up to the front door?To get more news about secure locks, you can visit securamsys.com official website.

Your next chance to extend that first impression is just above the welcome mat. The front door is where style, security and convenience may all come together through smart locks, which play an increasingly significant role in home sales.

Smart home devices in general are fast becoming an expected part of a new home purchase. According to a recent study by Security.org, seven in 10 home buyers are looking for a smart home, and 78% are willing to pay more for a home with smart devices. This same survey found that “security and safety” was at the top of the list of smart device categories. In a 2022 Z-Wave “State of the Ecosystem” report, smart locks were listed among the top three most popular smart home products, along with smart lightbulbs and Wi-Fi cameras.
An Entrance Set Apart From the Rest
Buyers want to live in a beautiful home with a beautiful entry point. Design innovation has always been a key element in differentiating, positioning and selling any home-based technology, and smart electronic locks are no exception.

Smart locks are often a homeowner’s first step into smart home technology. The devices allow them to introduce their own personal style right at the front door, whether through the color and carpentry of the door itself or the hardware.

To stay competitive, today’s smart lock manufacturers have to offer ever-expanding design options to complement everyone’s taste. For example, Kwikset offers push-button smart locks like the new Home Connect 620, which features maximum control and interoperability and is available in a range of finishes like polished chrome and bronze. Sleek, style-forward smart locks like Obsidian and the SmartCode 916 give a contemporary aesthetic with touch screen pads.

Many manufacturers also pair their smart lock offerings with matching handle sets—pairing color, finish and style to give the home’s entrance a cohesive look.

A Welcome and Appealing Connection
With connected smart locks, sales agents no longer need to find a key or fumble with a lock box. Real estate professionals use a personalized key code to open the door, highlighting the benefits and ease of a smart lock at the very start of the home tour.

Smart locks are the safest way to show who has access to a client’s home. Key codes can be created in advance, or if a homeowner knows someone is coming to their house, codes can be created on-demand and then removed when no longer needed. Homeowners can schedule codes for everyone from the plumber scheduled at 11 a.m. to the home healthcare worker coming to check in on an elderly parent.

What is the future of service robots?

The International Organisation for Standardisation defines a service robot as, “a robot that performs useful tasks for humans or equipment, excluding industrial automation applications”. It’s predicted that these types of robots will play a greater role in the maintenance, security and rescue markets, but interestingly, the latest sector to embrace automation and robotics is tourism. To get more news about RaaS, you can visit glprobotics.com official website.

Italy’s first robot concierge, Robby Pepper, has been employed to answer the frequent questions from the guests at a popular hotel resort. Programmed to understand and respond in Italian, English and German, Robby has been taught the locations of spas, restaurants and opening times to relieve overwhelmed staff during the summer tourist season.

This is just one example of how the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics is being utilised to improve the services offered across sectors.

Specialist robots like Robby are often required to be autonomous and free from an alternating current (AC) supply. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) therefore integrate portable batteries into their designs to power service robots.

The problem is that, as manufacturers create more intuitive robots, the power demands for these devices become significantly greater and often beyond the capability of many existing power sources.

At Ultralife, we understand that being able to reliably power a robotic system is important to avoid the financial burden of unexpected downtime, reprogramming and maintenance. This is why we created the range of primary, non-rechargeable, Lithium Thionyl Chloride and Lithium Manganese Dioxide cells and batteries.

These batteries can be integrated by OEMs and design engineers as backup batteries into service robot applications to ensure safe operation. Users also have the added benefit of the batteries featuring Ultralife’s Smart Circuit technology. This smart functionality provides users with critical information including cycle count, remaining run-time and remaining capacity, for added safety.Robots like Robby, for example, are programmed to learn and improve their knowledge while in operation. Depending on the memory storage feature installed in the device, loss of power could impact the robot’s development. If the robot uses flash memory settings for example, then any information Robby stored could be forgotten because of losing power.

Unlike industrial robots, service robots are at work in a wide range of environments and everyday life applications. Often using more advanced technology, service robots face distinct power requirements as a result. So, having a backup power source is essential to help businesses avoid frequent re-teaching or reprogramming any critical or previously learned information.

With the IFR expecting to see a substantial increase in the use of service robots across industry, OEMs and design engineers must consider the power source that’s going to operate their application. Robby may be the first Italian robot concierge but, providing every service robot can be reliably powered and reduce the pressure of medial tasks during busy periods, it is very unlikely he will be the last.

How To Wear A Legging The Right Way?

It is really undeniable that leggings are a blessing to all the world of fashion. They are comfortable and can be worn with everything. So if you want to know how to wear a legging in a way that your personality is brought out perfectly, then you will be glad to know that we are here to help. Today, in this article, we are going to offer you some practical, easy, and effective tips and ideas to style your leggings. All you have to do is scroll down and give this article a read. So, go on and get started. To get more news about Full Length Legging, you can visit destgjshop.com official website.

How To Choose The Right Leggings
Choosing leggings might sound frivolous because it is the most versatile piece of clothing in our closet we can comfortably wear throughout the year. Yes, if you know the basics, it’s not such a big deal, but if you do not wear them correctly, you might just end up with a camel toe, which is a complete turn off! Eeeks! Most of us forget that leggings are not pants.

1. Size
Wearing the right legging size is the most important part of this puzzle. Leggings can neither be too tight nor too loose. Make sure they fit your body snugly without tracing the body shape/celluloid. They should also not be so loose that you end up looking sloppy. You can still get away with ill-fitted leggings if you pair them with tops that stretch way below the hips. Otherwise, it is quite an unpleasant sight.

To avoid any gaffes related to sizes, ensure you have your sizes right. Either measure it yourself or get it done at the store or from a professional. It is important because the sizes differ with brands and knowing your actual measurement will always help. Also, remember to err on the larger side if you are an ‘in-between’ of two sizes. For example, if you are somewhere in between M and L, go with L – or try both of them first before you buy the smaller size. Try a couple of brands just to be sure.

2. Length
As we already know, leggings come in various lengths. How and what you choose to wear them with is entirely a personal choice. However, just make sure the outfit looks like it has been put together well.
3. Fabric
Cotton and lycra are the most common fabrics for leggings, but leather and suede are other interesting choices you may try. These are extremely stylish and make for a stylish outfit.

4. Colors
Choose the right color for your leggingsSave

Initially, leggings were all white, black or off-white. Then came the colored, contrasted, and later, the neon colored ones. You can make it fun as long as they are not over-the-top and outlandish.

Nebbi farmers shun cotton growing over short term crops

For the last three years, cotton growers in Nebbi district have shunned cotton growing for short term crops like rice due to consistent fluctuations in the price of cotton. Most farmers say it has only contributed to their prolonged life in poverty. To get more news about Cotton Shorts, you can visit destgjshop.com official website.

Due to the continuous fluctuation of cotton in the world market, farmers have resorted to growing of short-term crops like maize, soya beans, water melons, groundnuts and beans with a sustainable income and result oriented nature which benefit farmers within the period of three months.

The farmers who are reaping from other short-term crops have their livelihoods changed compared to cotton growing where cotton farmers have remained poor for more than 20 years.

According to some farmers, cotton fetched low prices of only Shs 1500 per kilo which many producers say it’s a huge loss compared to the working capital that each farmer spends right from preparing the cotton field.

Oyoma Francis, one of the traditional cotton farmers in Ndhew sub-county, Nebbi district says, last season, he planted more than 5 acres of cotton with a hope of getting profits to send his children to school but ended up getting frustrated with both the yields and price.

“I have never realized any profits from cotton growing for the last three planting seasons due to price and poor seeds quality,” Oyoma said.

The farmers have been battling with low price for cotton commodity for the last five years with the price ranging from Shs 1000 to Shs 1200.

Oyoma further noted that the refusal by most traditional cotton farmers to produce the crop this season, may lead to shortage of cotton commodity since most farmers have opted to grow less tedious crops for easy management.

Another cotton farmer in Atego sub-county, Nebbi district, Franko Wacal says, in 2020, he planted 2 acres of cotton and spent more than Shs 700,000 but only harvested 300kgs which amounted to Shs 450,000 at Shs 1500 per kilo.

“Cotton growing is no longer attractive to farmers due to the production cost incurred by the farmers right from preparing the land up to the harvest time,” Wacal said.Wacal added that farmers had better soils and they had no reasons sticking to a crop that fetches low returns due to marketability and it’s labor intensive which gives no room to farmers to tap profits at the end of the season.

An official from the Cotton Development Organization (CDO) anonymously said, Uganda has the lowest influence with the price of cotton compared to the world market which has remained a consistent challenge to cotton farmers.

He adds that surprisingly for more than 2 years, cotton farmers have not been realizing good yields and returns due to the outbreak of jessed cotton pest which affected the quality and price of cotton.

“We are getting challenges with continuous fluctuation of cotton prices in the world market with only 5 to 10% of cotton being sold internally in the country but, 90% of cotton was mostly exported to the world market whereby the prices of the cotton are dictated in the world market which has demoralized cotton farmers, ” he said.

He says the country is registering low cotton production due to climatic changes and the fluctuation of cotton prices in the world market during the harvest season which has barred cotton farmers from growing the quantities needed to be exported to the global market.

But this year, the price of cotton has increased from Shs1500 to Shs 2000 and farmers still say, the price is not high enough compared to the workload at the cotton plantation.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC0 Emma Onyango Okol says, cotton was among the top main cash crops in the country for the last 30 years but there has been a problem with prices after harvest which are so demoralizing and contributing to poverty among the farmers since its labor intensive.

How long does an eBike battery last?
The technology behind an eBike is powered by its battery. When looking to purchase one, it’s natural to be concerned about how long a battery can really last.To get more news about how long do ebike battery last, you can visit magicyclebike.com official website.

Whether you’re investing in an electric bike to boost your fitness levels, tackle challenging rides or do your bit for the environment, it’s a purchase you likely want to enjoy for years to come. Most technology comes with a limited lifespan – it’s unlikely that you’ll still have the same phone you do now 20 years down the line. So, does the same apply to electric bikes?

In this blog, we’ll cover how long an eBike battery lasts, and share our tips and tricks to make it last that little bit longer.

How long does a battery last on an electric bike?
Generally speaking, a high-quality eBike battery can last anywhere from 2 – 5 years. Of course, that depends on a number of things including the type of battery itself and just how well you take care of it.

The most common battery found in electric bikes nowadays is a lithium battery. Long-lasting, these batteries can usually withstand around 1,000 charge cycles – so you’re sure to get a fair few years of cycling out of it, especially if you take into consideration just how far each one of those charges can get you.

The Avaris Road eBike, for example, is powered by a Samsung 26V 10.4AH lithium battery which allows you to ride for up to 80 K on a single full charge.
How to extend the life of your eBike battery
eBike batteries usually account for around one-third of the price of the bike itself, and the bike is essentially redundant without it. So, it’s an important asset that you’ll want to do everything you can to keep in tip-top condition.

As with anything, proper care and maintenance will help to extend its lifespan and ensure you’re riding for longer without having to replace the battery. So, here are our top tips for getting the most out of it:

Store it at the correct temperatures
eBike batteries are generally robust and durable, built to withstand the harshest conditions on the toughest rides. Good quality eBikes are generally fine to ride in extremely hot or cold temperatures without any impact on the battery. However, the way you store your battery is what’s important.

Whilst it may be rare to experience a blistering hot UK summer, sometimes that does happen. In these conditions, don’t lock your bike up under the direct heat of sunlight and leave your battery in it – take it out, or park it in the shade and keep it sheltered at the very least. The same goes for extremely cold temperatures and damp or wet environments.
