Alaska Airlines nudges passengers to mobile boarding passes

Alaska Airlines is pushing passengers to load boarding passes on their smartphones by removing airport kiosks that can be used to print the passes.Get more news about wholesale boarding pass, you can vist our website!

The airline has removed kiosks at nine airports so far, including Portland International in Oregon. It is telling customers to use Alaska's app to download boarding passes or print them at home.

Alaska executives said Thursday that their goal is to reduce crowding at check-in areas and get passengers to security checkpoints faster. They discussed the issue Thursday during a call with Wall Street analysts to go over first-quarter financial results.

The Seattle-based airline lost $142 million, as it was weighed down by higher fuel and labor costs during what is traditionally its weakest quarter of the year. Alaska stuck to its forecast that it will earn between $5.50 and $7.50 per share for the full year.Getting rid of kiosks is not expected to affect Alaska's financials one way or the other, although CEO Ben Minicucci said it will help the airline grow without adding more airport space.

Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Harrison said Alaska is already seeing an increase in the number of travelers who check in for their flights and have their boarding pass before arriving at the airport. What you're going to see in the future are people only needing to check bags that are going to be milling around in the lobby," he said.

About half of Alaska's customers check a bag, which they can do using airline-provided iPads instead of kiosks, officials said. They also say that, in a pinch, airline agents can print boarding passes for customers who arrive without one and don't have a smartphone.

Alaska plans to remove kiosks at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport next month and at all of its locations by the end of next year.

American Airlines and United Airlines said they have no plans to eliminate their kiosks. Southwest and Delta did not comment immediately.

Aluminium profiles and accessories

Discover the go-to solution for all construction tasks in mechanical engineering operations. Using the high-strength aluminium profiles from the item MB Building Kit System, any type of industrial structure can be assembled neatly and rapidly without requiring additional surface treatment. Corrosion doesn't stand much of a chance thanks to the anodised profile surface, which ensures the aluminium profiles retain their elegant look. This eliminates the need to apply corrosion protection and carry out regular maintenance - a clear advantage over steel. Get more news about C Profile Aluminium, you can vist our website!

Further advantages to aluminium profiles
When using aluminium profiles in mechanical engineering operations, only simple machining and assembly steps are required, such as sawing, drilling, screw-fastening, clamping or clipping. The building kit system offers the simplest means of making any kind of adjustment or alignment. Machining aluminium profiles does not require a wide range of machinery. Industrial companies using item aluminium profiles therefore remain in complete control, as timing and quality are not dependent on external providers.
The aluminium profiles from item encompass the mutually compatible lines 5 to 12, as well as special angled and flat profiles. A comprehensive portfolio of matching accessories opens up a fantastic range of potential applications.
Wood and wood imitations are permanently in trend - at home between one's own four walls as well as outside. In both interior and exterior architecture wooden constructions are a popular stylistic element. But as great as wood is as a building material, it also has its disadvantages especially in terms of maintenance. Aluminum is therefore preferred, particularly for large glass facades. In order to give the facade a natural or unusual look, it is possible to optically enhance the aluminum surfaces with sublimation printing or to design them even more creatively. The special ECOSUBLIFIX primers of our Ecopolifix brand form the basis for the print.

Diverse design possibilities through sublimation printing
In sublimation printing ink-designed decorations are transferred from the substrate to a coated surface. This transfer occurs through heat treatment with a special coating (base material) and is also called a film transfer. For the transfer of the embellishments two industrial processes can be applied, depending on the geometry of the parts to be sublimated. For aluminum profiles or objects with a more complex geometry, the transfer film is wrapped around the support and welded. The air is extracted to create a vacuum and to ensure good adhesion of the film. The film transfer takes place in the oven at 200°C for a few minutes. For aluminum plates or flat objects the transfer film is stretched over a carrier. The decoration is transferred in a few minutes using a printing press with a 200°C heated plate.

With both methods the inside of the ink - the sublimation ink - is protected from external influences. Accordingly, the finished decor has excellent durability. Depending on the customer wishes, wood, marble or granite decorations, or numerous other designs, patterns, colours and shades can be imitated. Originally, the sublimation technique was developed for the textile sector, but for several decades it has also been used for the design of aluminum windows, window frames, curtain walls, doors or sectional doors, etc.

Officials say new intermodal rail terminal will take trucks off I-5

Officials cut the ribbon Thursday on a new intermodal rail terminal near Albany. Advocates said it could take hundreds of trucks off I-5 each day.Get more news about Juk Rail Terminal, you can vist our website!

The 64-acre facility will allow the transfer of shipping containers from truck to train, and vice versa. The idea is to make it easier for Willamette Valley farms and businesses to ship products and get raw materials without having to send trucks to major ports in Seattle or Tacoma.

That's a huge selling point for Karla Chambers, co-owner of Stahlbush Island Farms in Corvallis. Our truck driver can make one trip up to Tacoma in one day, tying up an entire truck for a round trip, and they spend a huge part of that day sitting in downtown Portland," she said. "So this just cleans all of that up."

Chambers said Stahlbush Farms exports frozen and canned fruits and vegetables. It also imports packaging material, meaning the intermodal terminal could be useful for both inbound and outbound products. With diesel costs going up, labor costs going up, we need to help our customers get their prices down," she said. "This will make all of us in the Willamette Valley more competitive."

The $35 million facility was paid for with a mix of state and Linn County funds. It's expected to open in January.

It's located in the town of Millersburg, just north of Albany. The terminal features three train tracks that will eventually be straddled by an overhead gantry crane.

"It doesn't eliminate trucks," said Gary Fernaux, director of sales for ITS ConGlobal, the company that will operate the terminal. "It greatly reduces the number of miles on the truck, including wear and tear on the highways and the emissions."

Fermaux said ITS ConGlobal, which operates more than two dozen similar facilities across the country, expects to handle about 150 skipping containers at the Millersburg location each day, with a goal of getting a truck driver in and out of the facility in about 30 minutes.

While not quite open, the facility was hailed Thursday as a game-changer by the dignitaries and members of the business community who gathered trackside to cut the ribbon on what will officially be known as the "Mid-Willamette Valley Intermodal Center."

Giving medals a green touch - the Tokyo 2020 way

The organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have revealed the medal designs for the prizes that will be awarded to all those who reach the podium at the world's greatest sporting showcase.Get more news about Metal Medal, you can vist our website!

All the medals which are to be distributed to the winners of the Olympics and Paralympics are to be made out of metal extracted from small, electronic gadgets like mobile phones. As part of the ‘Tokyo 2020 Medal Project', the organising committee requested people to donate their mobile phones that are currently not in use.

Between April 2017 and March 2019, roughly 80,000 tons of mobile phones and small electronic devices were collected from all over Japan. Following the collection of the phones and refining of the metals, a designer by the name of Junichi Kawanishi was tasked with styling the medals for the 2020 edition after winning a competition earlier this year which had over 400 entrants. The committee collected nearly six million mobile phones, which were used to make around 5000 medals. These are to be awarded to the gold, silver and bronze medal-winning athletes of Tokyo 2020.

The project organisers hope that the nationwide electronics drive will help create a spirit of resourcefulness for Tokyo 2020.The medals reflect the concept that it is through the daily honing of skills that athletes strive for victory. Thus the medals resemble rough stones that have been polished and now shine brilliantly.

The front of the medal depicts Nike, the Greek goddess of victory in front of the Panathenaic Stadium in Greece and the Olympics five rings symbol.

LIFT bus donation strengthens partnership between TriMet

When TriMet Interim General Manager, Sam Desue, Jr. handed over the keys of a retired LIFT paratransit bus to Volunteer of America's Crystal Ross at the LIFT operating facility in Northwest Portland, her face lit up, and you could imagine the smile that was beaming behind her blue mask.Get more news about bus lift exporter, you can vist our website!

"It's been a very difficult and uncertain year and finding consistent transportation and stable transportation for our clients for this new program that we're about to open was incredibly stressful," she said. "This came at a time where we needed it the most, where our clients needed it the most."
The 2009 Ford E450 cutaway bus will fill a critical transportation need for Volunteers of America Oregon's Family Relief Nursery and Drop-In Services program. It will help transport children, ranging from newborns to age five, to and from the child abuse prevention program. The ADA-accessible bus, which can hold about 15 people, will be retrofitted to ensure the kids can be safely secured in their car seats before it goes into service later this month.

"Transportation is a social determinant of health," said Ross, who runs the program. "With transportation being one of the biggest challenges among all of our clients in our programs, this is going to serve a huge need."
At 12 years old, the bus had reached the end of its functional life for TriMet's paratransit services, but with a new engine, it can help fill a transportation need for Volunteers of America for years to come. The bus is the latest in a series of donations TriMet has made to support local non-profits, an effort spear-headed by Desue, both under his leadership as General Manager and, prior to that, as TriMet's Chief Operating Officer. Black Futures Farm and Urban League of Portland received retired LIFT buses during the past six months. TriMet also donated a full-size bus to Bybee Lakes Hope Center, an organization that provides transition services to people experiencing homelessness.

"Part of TriMet's mission is to help make our community a better place to live," said Desue. "We are thrilled to be able to offer this LIFT bus to meet children where they are and connect them with services that can help improve outcomes for years to come."

Was Ist Der Unterschied Molekularsieb 3a 4a 5a 13x

Was ist Molekularsieb?
Get more news about Molekularsieb 4a,you can vist our website!
