Serves hit by her surgically repaired shoulder often missed the mark, resulting in 12 double-faults. Shots that would be winners against most opponents were retrieved by Simona Halep and sent right back. Leads that usually hold up vanished in a blink. On a muggy afternoon, with the temperature in the high 70s (20s Celsius), points were lung-searing struggles. Sharapova was up to the task. In an entertaining and undulating championship match -- the first womens final at Roland Garros in 13 years to go three sets -- Sharapova showed that shes as tough as they come, particularly on the red clay that used to flummox her. She edged Halep 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4 Saturday to win a second French Open title in three years. This is the toughest Grand Slam final Ive ever played, Sharapova said. It is her fifth major trophy in all. Remarkably, Sharapova owns twice as many from Paris as the one each she won at Wimbledon in 2004, the U.S. Open in 2006, and the Australian Open in 2008. If somebody had told me ... at some stage in my career, that Id have more Roland Garros titles than any other Grand Slam, Id probably go get drunk, Sharapova said with a chuckle. Or tell them to get drunk. One or the other. The 3-hour, 2-minute tangle featured too many momentum swings to count, filled with lengthy baseline exchanges, and terrific defence and shotmaking by both women. Not bad for someone who once famously described herself as feeling like a cow on ice when it came to playing on clay, a slow, demanding surface that requires excellent footwork. Now Sharapova knows how to move on clay, and can stretch points when needed. Since the start of 2012, Sharapova is 54-4 with seven titles on clay. Shes also won 20 consecutive clay three-setters, including four in a row this week. It says that shes very fit. It says that shes very determined, said Sven Groenefeld, Sharapovas coach. And it says that she never gives up. Sharapova broke into a huge smile while hoisting the trophy overhead, then shaking it with both hands and scanning a stadium that, improbably, has become hers. This was her third final in a row in Paris: She won the 2012 title to complete a career Grand Slam, then lost last year to Serena Williams, who bowed out in the second round this time. Sharapova is 20-1 the last three years at Roland Garros -- which is nothing compared to Rafael Nadals 65-1 career French Open mark heading into Sundays final Sunday against Novak Djokovic, but certainly quite impressive. Keith Mumphery Texans Jersey. Youre not just born being a natural clay-court player. OK, maybe if youre Nadal. But certainly not me, Sharapova said. I didnt grow up on it; didnt play on it. I just took it upon myself to make myself better on it. Plus, Sharapova had an operation on her right shoulder, the one she uses to swing her racket, in October 2008. That joint troubled the Russian again in 2013, when she played one match from July to December. She now travels with a physiotherapist, Jerome Bianchi, and told him during the post-match ceremony, Thank you for keeping me healthy. This was the ninth Grand Slam final for the No. 7-seeded Sharapova, and the first for Halep, a 22-year-old Romanian seeded fourth. Supported by a dozen folks in her guest box wearing red T-shirts saying Allez Simona, and fans that chanted her first name, Halep acquitted herself well, showing off the scrambling baseline style that carried her to six straight-set wins until Saturday. I will not forget this match, said Halep, who wiped away tears afterward. Each time it appeared Sharapova was ready to pull away, she was forced to do extra work. At 4-3 in the second set, Sharapova held two break points, but Halep saved both with gutsy groundstrokes. In the tiebreaker, Sharapova got within two points of victory at 5-3, but Halep took the next four to claim the set. Thats when Sharapova left for the locker room, taking an 8-minute break during which she changed out of her sweat-soaked outfit -- and let Halep stew for a bit. Sharapova went ahead 4-2, but Halep broke back to 4-all. It turned out that was her last stand, though. Sharapova wouldnt lose another point, gritting her teeth and shaking her fists after breaking at love for 5-4 with a backhand winner, then holding at love by forcing a backhand error from Halep on match point. When it ended, Sharapova dropped to her knees, caking her shins with clay, and folded her body forward, burying her face in her hands. I had good tactics today. I opened the angles. Also, I was hitting the ball strong, Halep said. But Sharapova, Halep continued, was moving really well. Cow on ice? More like Queen of Clay. Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

MONTREAL - The sight of George Parros laid out on the ice cast a long shadow on Tuesday. Vincent Lecavalier Jersey . Parros suffered a concussion early in the third period of the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 home-opener loss to the rival Toronto Maple Leafs after slamming face first into the ice during a fight. Parros was knocked unconscious after a tussle with Colton Orr - their second fight of an unruly game - brought him tumbling to the ice. He fell hard on his chin while attempting to punch Orr, who was tugging at Parros jersey. "Thanks for all the well wishes everyone," said Parros from his verified Twitter account a few hours after the game, adding the hashtag "classyfollowers." The hard-hitting Canadiens forward spent several minutes motionless on the ice, attended to by the teams medical staffs, before being taken off on a stretcher. The Canadiens announced that he was released from hospital on Wednesday morning and is out indefinitely. "You never want to see a guy get hurt like that," said Orr. "It was a scary situation. I just hope hes all right. "It happened fast. I slipped and he came on top of me. The ice isnt going to give." Parros and Orr have a long history. The two have fought each other several times in the past, and Orr was injured in a similar fight with Parros two years ago at Torontos Air Canada Centre. Parros, then with the Anaheim Ducks, landed on Orr, who suffered a concussion and didnt play for the rest of that season. Parros teammates are hoping he will be back with the team soon. "Any time you see a guy go down — no matter what team hes on — its pretty scary," said Canadiens captain Brian Gionta. "Hopefully things are all right, and that hell bounce back quickly. "Its tough. You have a guy whos coming into a new team and he wants to establish himself. He had a good game tonight stepping up for his guys and protecting his guys. You never like to see him go down like that." Shortly after the incident, Torontos Mason Raymond — in his first game with the Leafs — put the game out of Montreals reach, scoring the eventual game-winner. Brendan Gallagher thinks his team didnt react as well as they could have after Parros injury. "Your emotions take you for a little bit of a ride," said Gallagher. "We would have liked to respond better. Its tough to see your teammate down. Were human and we react like humans. "When it happens, its tough. But as soon as the puck drops, you get back to playing. Knowing him and knowing the person he is, hell recover and be in our lineup in no time." Parros injury could reignite the debate about whether fighting has a place in hockey. But Josh Gorges doesnt think it should. "I see more players get hurt from hits, collisions, from pucks, than I do from fights," said Gorges. "I dont think saying because a player got hurt in a fight that now we have to talk about taking fighting away. And I bet that if you ask George (Parros), hell be the first to agree with me on that one too." Parros joined Montreal this summer after one season with the Florida Panthers. Tuesdays game was his first in a Canadiens uniform. Montreals next game is Saturday, Oct. 5, at home against the Philadelphia Flyers. Martin St. Louis Jersey . - David Tomasek had two goals in regulation time and was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Belleville Bulls upset the Oshawa Generals 6-5 on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action.Right on cue and as advertised at exactly 1pm et Tuesday afternoon, the Montreal Impact officially began their 2013 season post-mortem in front of what was a very sizeable and highly-engaged media throng. In the lead up - which seemed to begin the moment Mike Geiger blew the whistle in Houston last Thursday night - the Impact rumour mill went into overdrive. The speculation went into meltdown mode, of the golden nugget variety. Gems included; did a member of Impact management and not head coach Marco Schallibaum pick the team for the Impacts first-ever MLS playoff match? Others placed Alessandro Nesta in the role of the Impacts third head coach since it began play in MLS in March 2012. From last weekend and right through Monday and Tuesday morning, the intrigue over these two specific rumours continued to add layers as it increased to fever pitch. Was Schallibaum already home in Switzerland contemplating a 2014 without the Impact? Surely not, as an option is his contract for an additional year would automatically strike for making the playoffs. MLS Playoffs were the only requirement. Not that singular play-in round the now fully-qualified legal boffins proffered. Mauro Biello was certainly keeping his assistant coaching role under Nesta. What, though, would come of Philippe Eullaffroy? The Frenchman in his role as Impact Academy Director is very much the reason the likes of Karl Ouimette, Maxim Tissot and Wandrille Lefèvre have already seen decent MLS playing time. Ouimettes qualities and promise were reconfirmed Friday afternoon when it was announced he had gotten his first National Team call-up. Eullaffroy, and his work are very much admired by the two people in the organization who appeared from behind the curtain at 12:59pm Tuesday. Even before a word had been uttered by club president, Joey Saputo most of the 50-plus individuals, which had now packed out the media conference room, were of the strong belief Schallibaum was no longer the head coach of his team. A team that for the largest part of the season was a legitimate contender for not just making the playoffs but to contend for the holiest of North American soccer grails, the MLS Cup itself. Those from the Schallibaum hanging jury had a massive piece of evidence. Well, sort of, on the circumstantial evidence front. There were only two microphones at the IMFC Post Mortem rostrum with neither containing the name of the head coach. By 1:05pm Tuesday afternoon Schallibaums hanging-out-to-dry trial was dismissed. The Impact President confirmed a meeting had indeed taking place with his head coach just some 24-hours previously and that he was still the head coach. It didnt take long either for Saputo to kick into touch any thought (rational or otherwise) that one of the modern eras greatest central defenders was currently getting measured up and suited and booted for his head coach threads. Licenses and Badges not included. We were further advised that only following what most certainly will be the most thorough of Impact investigations in their 20 year history - into reasons why things went so terribly wrong and downhill late in the season - would any decision be announced on who the clubs head coach will be in 2014. Not down with the darkening mood in the room, likely due to the repetitive nature of the questions the Impacts Sporting Director cleverly spotted opportunity to bring up the woeful Toronto FC. Hales of laughter ensued. Job almost done, Saputo and De Santis left the media to fight amongst themselves shortly afterwards. Heres another nugget to chew on, thrown out earlier by the clubs Communications Director, the very affable Pat Vallee, who himself came through the Impacts ranks from back in the Claude Robillard days. Vallee announced a sequel to the IMFC Post Mortem 24-hours later would now not only include the announcement of the 2013 MVP, but additionally head coach Marco Schallibaum would play a leading role in Wednesdays matinee. Di Vaio was not so much voted in as MVP but confirmed by proclamation. Not only one of the very few players in MLS history to breach the 20-goal regular season plateau but the ex-Bologna hit mman exceled exceedingly so off the pitch as well right through 2013. Nikita Kucherov Jersey. This began the moment Di Vaio stepped foot back in Montreal in early January. The elder statesman the very first Impact player to show up in La Belle Ville and well ahead of that date marked physicals. Early to arrive, early to get on the score sheet as well. In all my years of been around the club there has not been another player that captures and captivates the imagination as this native son of Rome does. In less than 18 months since Di Vaio and his family - which included a brother-in-law with remarkably similar physical features and profile - stepped off the plane and onto Impact terra firma, the striker has led the Impact to a strong MLS start. Not only supremely gifted as the most natural of goal scorers ever to have set foot on an MLS pitch, Di Vaio is also a charismatically gifted individual. Disarming, charming by nature in abundance, last Thursday nights 60 seconds of madness was completely and utterly out of character. Joey Saputo is not kidding when he states the Impact hit the jackpot when signing Di Vaio. Well, the Impact just recently won the 6/49 once again with the recent announcement their original DP would indeed continue his Montreal adventure. Shortly after Saputo and Di Vaio left the stage following the official awarding of the Giuseppe Saputo Trophy a very quietly confident Marco Schallibaum appeared. His tone beginning seriously and assertively, fully understanding of the want, need and desire to properly understand what went wrong. At the exact time when things were meant to be so right. Saputo and De Santis have all the right in the world to demand answers. Their head coach will want them himself. Slowly, likely knowing he had won over the trust of the room, Schallibaum let the veneer down and turned into his jovial self. The one which had humoured so often in his media briefings and gatherings all season long continued to do so. "Any questions in German?" was one of his last offerings. With Schallibaum back behind what had quickly turned into the most famous curtain in Montreal the players were given their turn at the mic. Davy Arnaud displayed much fortitude disclosing hed let the Swiss volcano in him off when giving his head coach a piece of his mind over not been selected to play in Houston. The club captain was very candid and brutally honest when asked if perhaps his time in an Impact shirt was done and how would he view his tenure, Arnauds Texan pride and loyalty to the cause bubbled over. The effervescence award though goes to the man upon which much of the weekend rumour mongering and speculation centred: Alessandro Nesta. This was Nestas final press conference as a footballer. Montreal and the Impact got the utmost privilege to host this rather historical moment, not only in MLS terms, but by the broadest of football measures. It was rather fitting that his teammate from the Rome suburbs who was with Nesta as an eight-year old was some 30 years later still there, four-square cheek by jowl. Nesta and Di Vaio. We will never see them again together, as teammates., which is both Milan and Montreals loss. Is it Miamis gain? When I departed Saputo Stadium vey late Wednesday afternoon it wasnt what had been said which rung round me, it was actually something that wasnt said. When we mark down how far football and the culture of the sport has come in La Belle Ville in recent years we can now add this. The media are finally taking it seriously, giving the beautiful game the respect it has merited and deserved for years. I did not hear anyone utter the words "Montreal Canadiens" nor take a Habs players name in vain on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon as I always have in the past. Rather ironically, and with perfect timing, it was Alessandro Nesta and Marco Di Vaio who were introduced to the sold out Bell Centre crowd this past Tuesday night. I am glad the regular season is over. Grant Fuhr Maple Leafs Jersey . When a football season begins I am rejuvenated. In the months of August and September I enjoy the grind and through mid-October to November I am enamored with playoff talk and positioning. But it happens every year - when the final whistle is blown to end a season I say yee-haw! Good! Its playoff time. The regular season is the price you play for the playoff experience and opportunity to possess a ring. It is a long stressful price but to be in the playoffs its different. Gone is all discussion about records and who is an "all-star" and what I did or you did. Enter the reality that if you can win three games starting Sunday you can create a memory that will never fade and will always produce a smile when called upon. Football players pull together come playoff time and it is something unique to see and be a part of. Practices are quieter, meeting almost somber in atmosphere. Not that it does not happen during the regular season but in playoff football it is almost physical in its vibe. Over the next three weeks players re-dedicate, re-focus and realize that this is it. The season will be all worth it or just another year in the books. For Winnipeg and Edmonton the question is "Where do we go from here?" There is rebuilding and refining in football and Winnipeg is rebuilding. Edmonton is too but with Mike Reilly at quarterback they are a few steps ahead in the personnel department than the Bombers. Change started on Monday in Edmonton with the dismissal of head coach Kavis Reed as in the last three years, they went from 11-7, to 7-11, to 4-14 this season. I think Montreal is the most dangerous team in the playoffs. Statistically Calgary was the best defence as they allowed the fewest points, 413 over 18 games, about 22 a game. But Montreal has singular game-changing players who create turnovers. Slowly but surely Jim Popp has improved his team and depending on quarterback Troy Smith, Montreal could win it all. In BC eleven wins in one football season is solid but that is the issue - it is solid but not dominant. It was an awkward season with the Lions. Not great, not bad, just weird. Good one week, not so good the next. No running game, good defence but bad red zone defence. Just seems like the lions never hit their stride this year as they have in the past. In Hamilton they are better and improving. I cant thank the University of Guelph enough for providing a home (and for being a home for a 220,000lb Purolator tackle hunger donation) but it is time for the Ticats to go back to Balsome Avenue and King Street. If they need some cheap labour come February I am around and willing. They need their home stadium back. Good team trying to be great but they are headed in the right direction. For the Riders of Regina the dream is still alive! BC won it all two years ago, and Toronto did last year and so can the 2013 Riders. At one point they were 8-1 and then adversity hit both on and off the field. On field is to be expected, off field can be tolerated. The Riders can win it all or could be one and done. Self control and emotional focus for key individual players are issues and must not be seen as an issue come Sunday. Finally, Toronto and BC. Not complicated at all. Just lay out a practice and meeting schedule that helps your team peak come the 17th of November. And hope that BC, Saskatchewan, Montreal and Hamilton beat each other up real good. No more tracking records or resting, or injuries or alibis. This is it - the best type of football, one game by one game by one game. Winner take all. Joffrey Lupul Jersey . According to the Star, the suspension became effective on May 27 and was confirmed by documents obtained from Hamilton County court. BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull overtook Ferraris Fernando Alonso near the end of the race to win a thrilling Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday for his second Formula One victory of the season and his career. Cheap Jerseys . Lewis Hamilton, who started from the pit lane after his engine caught on fire during qualifying, was third, holding off Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who started from pole position. Ricciardo finished the race 5.225 seconds ahead of Alonso. Hamilton was just 0.632 seconds further back and 0.504 seconds ahead of Rosberg. Ricciardo, an Australian competing in his fourth Formula One season, made three pit stops -- compared to just two for Alonso and Hamilton -- and his newer set of tires paid off in the end as he surged past the leaders with three laps to go. "We had the fresher tires but I knew it was going to be an exciting finish," Ricciardo said. "That was a lot of fun, the last few laps. "I am definitely going to celebrate tonight, party for a few days and enjoy a few days off," he added. Ricciardo won his first F1 race at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal in June and is the only non-Mercedes driver to win this year. Rosberg still leads the championship with 202 points, followed by Hamilton with 191 and Ricciardo with 131. In the constructors standings, Mercedes has 393 points, Red Bull 219 and Ferrari has overtaken Williams for third place, 142 points to 135. Mercedes told Hamilton to let Rosberg pass him as the race was winding down, but Hamilton said he saw no reason to obey team orders considering his good position at the time. "I was very, very shocked that the team would ask me to do that," Hamilton said. Rosberg "did get close enough to overtake but I was never going to lift off and lose ground to Fernando or Daniel to enable him to have a good race." "That was a bit strange," Hamilton added. Hamilton also started from the pit lane at last weeks German Grand Prix and moved up to finish third. He had won the last two races in Hungary and was looking for his fifth win on the twisting, relatively slow Hungaroring. The British driver said his last two performances were "definitely much more satisfying" than even a win achieved from pole position. He said that starting from the pit lane, without a warm-up lap and with a wet track, made the start of the race even more difficult than the final laps when he managed to hold off Rosberg. "It was an interesting beginning of the race and Im very grateful I got through," Hamilton said. For Rosberg, fourth place on the Hungaroring was his worst result of the season in a race he finished, though it equaled his best effort on this track. Except for dropping out of the British Grand Prix in Silverstone with gearbox problems, he had finished either first or second in every other race. Rosberg, who has four victories in 2014, one less than Hamilton, admitted to a "massively disappointing" day. "At the end there was one chance to overtake Lewis in the last lap, but it didnt work out," Rosberg said. "We need to sit down and analyze internally what went wrong today." Alonso, the only driver to score points at every race so far this season, was pleased to get back on the podium. He was third at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai in April. "I am happy and proud of the job done," the Spaniard said. "It was probably one of the few podiums we will achieve this season. We can go on vacation now with a good taste in our mouths." A rain shower just before the start made conditions difficult at the beginning of the race. Several drivers crashed, including Sebastien Grosjean, Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez, and the safety car made two appearances during the race, substantially changing its dynamics. SAN FRANCISCO - Jonathan Martin is back on the Stanford campus hanging out and working out with old college pals turned successful pros, Andrew Luck and Richard Sherman. Shayne Corson Blues Jersey . He has returned to his Bay Area comfort zone, far from South Florida and his short-lived, tumultuous tenure with the Dolphins. Now, hes here to stay. Martin is the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers, and hes thrilled for a fresh start to keep playing football. And for anyone who questions why the offensive lineman couldnt tough things out through a bullying scandal in Miami, hes unconcerned. "You could say this or that could have gone differently. Hindsight is 20-20," Martin said Thursday upon passing a physical. "My focus is 100 per cent on the future, moving forward." In recent months, Martin has learned to ignore all the negative chatter and surround himself with those who have been so supportive along the way. Already, starting 49ers offensive linemen Joe Staley and Anthony Davis have reached out. "I can tell already that Im going to get along just great with those guys," Martin said. "Ive felt a warm welcome from the entire 49ers community, fan base, coaching staff, everybody. Im just looking forward to the future and getting back to playing football." Martins trade from the Dolphins to the Niners became official Thursday. It reunites him with his college coach, Jim Harbaugh. The teams first announced the move Tuesday night for Martin, who left the Dolphins last fall after accusing teammate Richie Incognito of bullying in a scandal that overshadowed the franchises 8-8 season. An investigation for the NFL determined last month that Incognito and two other offensive linemen engaged in persistent harassment of Martin, another offensive lineman and an assistant trainer. After Martins departure from the Dolphins in late October, he underwent counselling for emotional issues. Incognito was suspended for the final eight games. "Any time we acquire a player we give him a clean slate, along with every opportunity to demonstrate his value to our organization, both on the field and in the community," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said. "It will be no different in Jonathans case. As a former Stanford student-athlete, we are very familiar with Jonathan and look forward to working with him." Harbaugh has supported Martin all along, from his early college days at Stanford to the offensive linemans departure from the Dolphins, and even in a formal NFL investigation into the situation in Miami. Harbaugh spoke publicly about Martin in November and referred to him as a "personal friend." "Hes a stand-up guy. It means a lot when somebody with that much credibility has your back," Martin said. "His enthusiasm is infectious. You can see it at every level of the organization. It rubs off on everybody. Just to be around a winning atmosphere, a coach thats focused on winning, its really the best situation I could have asked for." Now, these two will begin the process of getting Martin up to speed in a hurry this off-season. Harbaugh has said hes not concerned because it should be a smooth transition. Martin already knows many of the coaches who came from Stanford when Harbaugh was hired in January 2011. Harbaugh has credited Martin for being a "very intelligent football player" who has familiarity with the Niners system. Martin noted he never considered retiring, saying: "That didnt even cross my mind at any point. Im a football player, Ive been a football player my whole life." "The way Im approaching it, I have to earn my spot on this team, Im a new guy in the locker room," Martin said. "Its a blank slate for me. Im looking forward to revitalizing my career, getting back to playing. I want to do whatever I can to contribute to this O-line. Its one of the best O-lines in football already." The 24-year-old Martin wasnt expected to return to Miami, and owner Stephen Ross made it known in January that the 2012 second-round pick would likely be gone. The investigation found a pattern of harassment on the Dolphins, with Martin the primary target of vicious taunts and racist insults that occurred almost daily. The report said teammates threatened to rape Martins sister, called him a long list of slurs and bullied him for not being "black enough." Martin is black and Incognito is white. Now, Martin can truly move forward in a new jersey, and perhaps in a new number — even in a new stadium. The 49ers will play their first season in Levis Stadium at team headquarters this year. Martin said they have always had a great relationship, from the days Harbaugh recruited him to Stanford and coached him for three years with the Cardinal. "The goal for this transaction is a win-win," Harbaugh said. Martin, too, considers this a perfect fit, with the opportunity to chase a championship an added bonus. "Absolutely," Martin said. "I think it worked out great, once again playing for Coach Harbaugh, once again in the Bay Area. Playing for a winning franchise, a team thats had a lot of recent success. Hopefully Ill be able to contribute to further success with this team." The Giants made a $15.3 million qualifying offer that the switch-hitting third baseman wont accept by Mondays deadline.Weve engaged, but Ill leave it at that, Sabean said Thursday. Were three days in, so thats the best answer I can give.Giants CEO Larry Baer said his teams payroll will go up after San Franciscos third title in five years and the club will do what it can to keep Sandoval. San Franciscos payroll was $164.7 million at the end of the regular season, the sixth-highest in the majors. The 28-year-old Sandoval batted .279 with 16 homers and 73 RBIs in 157 regular-season games and .366 in the post-season with seven doubles and five RBIs, including four during a seven-game World Series win against Kansas City. While the 2012 Series MVP has said he would like to finish his career with the Giants, he will have other suitors and plans to listen. We dont have a solution in house so it would have to come from the outside, Sabean said. Im not going to address anybody at this time other than Pablo; thats who were engaged with. It wouldnt be fair to the other guys.Sabean said the futures of left fielder Michael Morse, Peavy and Vogelsong are on the backburner until third base is resolved. Both Baer and Sabean said a resolution could take a while.Even speculating at how the Giants might look at left field is tough for Sabean in this firstt week of free agency. Scottie Upshall Jersey. Were exploring any place that we may have a hole, he said. I cant guarantee what were going to do with our pending free agents to be, nor will I understand the landscape more until Pablos resolved. Having said that, if something jumps up, were prepared to react, bring it to Larry and make a quick decision. The Giants have expressed interest in other players who could become available to fill voids on the roster. When asked whether he might consider a hometown discount, Sandoval said: I dont want to talk about that. Its not my job. Ive got an agent. He focuses on that. When hes got a deal right, I just want to talk about it.Sandoval has appreciated seeing the Giants brass keep other key members of the team, such as signing catcher Buster Posey and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner and right-hander Matt Cain to long-term deals.Id love to be here, Sandoval said after Fridays victory parade. The Giants hope the Venezuelan star stays loyal to the franchise that signed him as an amateur free agent in 2003.Weve put out feelers all over the board with our options, whether its other free agents or trade interest, Sabean said. But obviously Pablos the heavy lifting and that also meets the budget, too. While its unclear whether Peavy or Vogelsong will return, manager Bruce Bochy said struggling right-hander Tim Lincecum — barely used in the recent post-season run — will be back in the rotation come spring training. Lincecum signed a $35 million, two-year contract last October. He pitched his second no-hitter in 11 months on June 25 against San Diego.I see him going back in the rotation. We have a need there, I think thats fair to say, Bochy said. Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '

COLLEGE PARK, Md. Johnathan Joseph Jersey . - Maryland didnt spend much time going over the tape of last Saturdays 52-7 loss to Wisconsin. When things like that happen, coach Randy Edsall said, its always better to put it behind you and move forward.By the end of the weekend, the Terrapins were already looking ahead to their next game. Unfortunately, that matchup is this Saturday at Penn State.Theres some history there, none of it good for Maryland. The teams havent met since 1993, before most of the current players on the Terrapins roster were born. But they all seem to know that before this so-called rivalry ended, Maryland was 1-35-1 against Penn State. It would mean a lot to get that second win against them, running back Brandon Ross said Tuesday. Now that the Terrapins are in the Big Ten, they will face Penn State on a regular basis. For this to become a rivalry, however, Maryland (5-3, 2-2) must prove it can compete with the Nittany Lions (4-3, 1-3).To have any kind of rivalry, youve got to win games, Edsall said. Thats one thing we havent done here at the University of Maryland. If youre going to make any kind of series a rivalry, theres got to be wins on our side. Before the home-and-home series mercifully concluded, Penn State was dominant. Marylands lone victory came in 1961, and the only other time in 37 games that the Nittany Lions failed to walk away a winner was in 1989, when the Terrapins used a late field goal to earn a 13-13 tie in Baltimore. You hate to tie a team like Maryland, Penn State linebacker Andre Collins said after the game.It wouldnt happen again. Penn State won the next four games by a collective 190-37 score, culminated by a 70-7 blowout in 1993.And now, a new era of Maryland players have a chance to turn things around, for the sake of all the grads who never experienced the sensation of beating Penn State. Its definitely special. A lot of alumni are looking at this; it has a lot more meaning for them, Terps quarterback C.J. Brown said. For us, we havent played them in forever. Its another game, obviously heightened because of who the head coach is.Former Maryland assistant James Franklin is now head coach at Penn State. Franklin was in line to take over for Ralph Friedgen but left for Vanderbilt in December 2010, shortly before Friedgen was ousted and replaced by Edsall. Franklin experienced tremendous success before taking the job at Penn State last January. The Nittany Lions won four straight to open the Franklin era, but have since lost three in a row, including 31-24 in double-overtime to Ohio State last weekend.Marylands weekend, of course, was even worse. Wisconsin led 24-0 at halftime, finished with 311 yards rushing and limited the Terrapins to 10 first downs overall.Despite the loss, Maryland still needs only one win to become bowl eligible, and that will be their main incentive Saturday. To be 3-2 in the conference and get that sixth win, thats really what were focused on now, Ross said. Thats what makes this game so big. Randy Bullock Texans Jersey . These have been trying times for Canadian Mens soccer. Michal Neuvirth Flyers Jersey Authentic . A struggling national team, and likewise Canadian Major League Soccer franchises have tested the patience of the most ardent support of the game in this country. Tuesday night at our National Soccer Stadium in Toronto told a different story: attractive play, highlight reel goals and a winning experience. The Canadian men gave head coach Benito Floro a winning home debut in a 3-1 victory over CONCACAF rival Jamaica. It was all-around a fun night for the Canadian faithful. Baby steps and hints of progress. To say its been a rough two years for the Canadian Mens National Soccer team would be an understatement. The players, program and supporters all deserved a night as such. A 16-match winless streak dating back to the 8-1 World Cup qualifying humiliation to Honduras in San Pedro Sula in October 2012 has cast a cloud of negativity over our Mens Soccer program. A seemingly never-ending goalless streak, soul searching and an absolute loss in confidence in the players and leadership has made for an all-time difficult time for the program. A losing mentality can be contagious. But that negative demeanour was nowhere to be found at Canadian camp over the last week heading into Tuesdays win. There was passion, energy and excitement around the team getting back at it for a long-anticipated home date. It was the mens first home date in 2014, and just the third match on home soil in the last two years. The players are well aware of all the negative talk about the team, individually and as collective. They felt they had something to prove. The win wont take away the sting of 8-1 but sets the tone of where this group plans to go. Its time to move forward. The players can now do so with confidence and reasoned belief in their new manager. The move by the CSA to bring in Floro was a calculated one; a man of vast experience looking for a new opportunity. How the marriage would work out was up for great debate. Much work was to be done, and many questioned whether Floro would be up for it. The initial returns are showing steps in the right direction. His players are speaking of tactics and compartmentalization in approach: something entirely different than recent years when survival and keeping heads above the water always seemed the goal. The new coach won over the crowd by bringing on Canadian and local soccer legend Dwayne De Rosario, as well as defender Karl Ouimette, who lost his sister to cancer earlier this month, for second half appearances – an appropriate touch and show of understanding by the manager. As for game-play, Floro has a clear vision how he wants his team to play. From attacking perspective, the initial returns speak to improvement. Its about making the most out of what he has. Canada will not win through individual ability: it must be a team approach, top-down. The intelligence and purpose of the Canadian attack against Jamaica was something unlike we have seen out of the Mens program for quite sometime. Canada may not be blessed with the natural goal-scorers of yester-year, but the team has pace. The ability to attack down the wings and move off the ball accordingly was refreshing. Tosaint Ricketts led the line well and looks a much more active player than in the past. His goal came off a mistake from goalkeeper Andre Blake, but the Canadian striker put himself in position to finish. It was a standout performance from the Israel-based player. Ricketts goal was the clincher after Canada scored three unanswered en route to victory. The other two goals were of the highest quality. Patrice Berniers corner finding David Edgar on the top of the 18, who volleyed home for a spectacular goal, rivaling Terry Dunfields wonder-strike against Ecuador in 2011. Marcel de Jong scored the other on a picture perfect free kick. Top goals, no matter what league or side youre watching worldwide. Atia Hutchinson remains the pulse of the team, outstanding again Tuesday night. The Besiktas player is a step above, and can be argued he could start for any CONCACAF nation. Hutchinson stands of evidence this country can still produce players of such high quality and deserves any and all the praise he gets. The team with speed around him takes advantage of his poise, composure and overall gifted ability to read the game. Hutchinson remains the centerpiece, and with Julian de Guzman, Patrice Bernier and the absent Will Johnson around him, make for a formidable middle of the park. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was the play of goalkeeper Milan Borjan. Multiple top saves and intervention helped keep Canada in a position to win on home soil. His positioning was sound and shot-blocking ability was equal to the task. The defensive line was shaky in front of him and will need work growing as a unit. Toronto FCs Doneil Henry played at right-back and provided size and strength on the outside. Henry needs more polish at the position but was an interesting look for a player used to playing centre-half. Borjan is without a club at present time. He, along with de Guzman and Adam Straith need club teams as soon as possible. It need not matter the inexperience in the Jamaican team or the lack of preparation time for the visitors. Its the result that matters. Its time to turn the corner from the negative narrative to developing something positive. That only comes through results. Belief in Benito and better days ahead for the program is paramount looking ahead to the Gold Cup and World Cup qualifying in the not-so-distant future. Its important for the Mens program to gain prominence on the Canadian sports landscape. Canada has become a leader in the womens game in terms of development and fan support. The success of the womens game has been a boon for the Canadian Soccer Association. But the Mens program on a global scale will always be the primary, long-term moneymaker and the barometer by which a countrys soccer success will be judged. It was unfortunate young boys club teams didnt flock out Tuesday night as girls club teams do for the womens program. It all comes from perception. When the perception of the mens program turns to one of success, we can expect similar fandom to follow. So some headlines the night before tickets went on sale for the 2015 FIFA Womens World Cup is well-taken by the CSA and the Canadian soccer community. Its a big year for Canadian soccer and there is no reason the Mens team cant be part of the headlines. The goal is all programs finding on and off-field success. Progress should be embraced as it comes. Tuesday was just that. More baby steps. Gareth Wheeler can be reached at:@WheelerTSNgareth.wheeler@bellmedia.ca R. J. Umberger Flyers Jersey Authentic . Jaromir Jagr Flyers Jersey Authentic . -- Jay Haas and Peter Jacobsen took the second-round lead Saturday in the Champions Tours Legends of Golf, teaming for a 6-under 48 in windy conditions on the par-3 Top of the Rock course. PHILADELPHIA -- Wilin Rosario got some words of encouragement and then broke himself and the Colorado Rockies out of an offensive slump. Rosario hit a go-ahead, three-run homer and Jorge De La Rosa pitched six strong innings to lift the Rockies to a 6-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night. Rosario entered the game without a hit in his previous 13 at-bats, but he got a pep talk from De La Rosa before the game. "I told Rosario in the training room before the game, You have to do something to win the game," a smiling De La Rosa said afterward. "And he did." Drew Stubbs went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Rockies, who had lost four of five while being outscored 16-0 in their two previous games. "That was a great win because we battled hard," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "We had a tough night (Monday). This team shows up well every day, and they turn the page. They went out there ready to win a game tonight." Ben Revere hit his first career homer in his 1,466th at-bat, and Darin Ruf also went deep for the Phillies. The start of the game was delayed 1 hour, 22 minutes due to rain. De La Rosa (6-3) continued his strong stretch, allowing one run and six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. The left-hander is 6-0 with a 1.58 ERA in his last seven starts. He wiggled out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the third when he got Revere to ground out, Jimmy Rollins to pop out and Chase Utley to fly out. "I just tried to keep the ball on the ground," De La Rosa said. "Thats how I got out of it." Said Weiss, "I feel like the game kind of turned right there. That was critical." Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg agreed. "Came back to haunt us," Sandberg said. "Thats a big momentum inning for them getting out of it. . Theres just something about getting the job done in that situation." Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels (1-3) was cruising along until walking consecutive batters with one out in the seventh. After Justin Morneau flied out for the second out, Rosario broke out of a slump by lifting Hamels first pitch just over the wall in right to give Colorado a 4-1 lead. He had been 0 for 15 before the homer, his sixth in 10 career games at Citizens Bank Park. "That was a big hit for him, a real money hit," Weiss said. Sam Gagner Flyers Jersey Authentic. Said Hamels, "If the pitch is down, its a definite different result. Its just a poorly executed pitch. I have to be able to make that pitch." Hamels left after the seventh after giving up four runs and three hits with four strikeouts and those two walks. Reveres one-out homer off left-handed reliever Boone Logan in the seventh just cleared the wall in right to pull Philadelphia within 4-2. Revere pointed skyward after crossing the plate, then grinned while receiving congratulations from Rollins before entering a silent dugout. His teammates relented after a minute or so and mobbed the smiling Revere. "Its a good feeling," Revere said. "When I got to second base, I didnt know what to do. I was trying not to smile but some guys got on me. It was fun. Ill try to hit 400 more." Rufs fourth-inning homer to left tied the game at 1 and halted De La Rosas scoreless streak at 15 1-3 innings. Ruf was starting at first base in place of left-handed slugger Ryan Howard, who sat against the lefty starter despite going 3 for 4 with a homer and five RBIs in Philadelphias 9-0 win over Colorado on Monday and knocking in 14 runs in his last nine games against the Rockies. It was the first homer of the season for Ruf, who was activated from the disabled list last Wednesday after recovering from a left oblique strain. Howard pinch hit with one out and two on in the eighth against righty Adam Ottavino and grounded into an inning-ending double play. It was the 58th double play of the season for the Rockies, who led the majors in that category entering Tuesday. Colorado got on the board first with a run in the fourth on Troy Tulowitzkis hard-hit sacrifice fly. Tulowitzki, the NL batting leader who entered hitting .447 off lefties, went 0 for 2 against Hamels.
