If you want to make perforated metal more transparent and sheer in appearance, it’s all down to the pattern – and sometimes even the colour finish – that you choose.When you’re planning for perforated metal transparent aesthetics, you don’t just need to think about hole size. There’s pitch and open area percentage to consider, too. All these factors determine how ‘see-through’ the finished perforated sheet will be:

Pitch: Pitch is the distance between hole centres in adjacent rows and is measured in millimetres. Essentially it means how close the holes are to each other. Pitch can have different directions, such as straight or staggered. For a transparent effect, you need the holes close to each other.
Hole size: Hole size is also measured in millimetre diameter. For delicate transparent effects, smaller holes work much better than larger ones.
