In fact, authentic Chinese food almost looks nothing like American Chinese food. It varies tremendously by region: Sichuan cuisine is spicy, Shangdong cuisine is generally salty and crispy, and Cantonese cuisine is sweet, for example. Chinese people would not understand the appeal of crab rangoon, deep
fried wontons filled with fake crab meat and cream cheese. If you're
hankering for a dumpling, order Xiao Long Bao instead. These Shanghai
dumplings are filled with meat—usually pork or crab—and a rich savory
broth that oozes out at the first bite. There's a trick to successfully
eating one of these dumplings: bite the corner of the dumpling and let
the broth seep out onto the spoon. Then eat the dumpling and slurp up
the broth.
American-style egg rolls are thick, bloated, deep-fried rolls of dough
filled with meat and vegetables. Biting into one can be a greasy,
daunting, and messy affair. For a similar crunchy fried appetizer, try
scallion pancakes, delicious fried flat bread loaded with chopped
scallions.
You won't find General Tsao's chicken in China, but if you're hankering
for a rich poultry dish, try Peking duck, a roasted duck dish which is
famous for its succulent meat and flavorful, crispy skin. Pair it with
some scallions, cucumbers, and hoisin sauce, and wrap it in a pancake
for the traditional Peking duck dining experience.
There are two problems with the beloved beef with broccoli dish: There
is no broccoli (at least not the western version) in China, and Chinese
people generally don't eat much beef. Instead, try Yu Xiang Rou Si, a
dish of shredded pork in hot garlic sauce. In this spicy and flavorful
Sichuan dish, the pork is usually sauteed with vegetables such as
mushrooms and peppers.
Instead of sesame chicken, which is fried chunks of chicken coated in a
sweet sauce and sesame seeds, order la zi ji, an incredibly spicy
Sichuan dish that consists of fried chunks of chicken breast with
peppercorn, toasted sesame and chili. It's got the same crunch as the
Chinese-American version, but with a lot more flavor.
American-style lo mein noodles are thick wheat flour noodles that are
stir-fried with vegetables or meat. It's usually a heavy, greasy, and
flavorless dish. Zha jiang mian is a much more flavorful, authentic
Chinese noodle dish topped with delicious stir-fried pork and zhajiang
(fermented soybean paste).
Chinese American-style wonton soup usually consists of a thick noodle
wrapped around a clump of pork in a broth. Hong Kong is famous for its
noodle soups, and the shrimp dumpling soup is far superior to the
American version. The shrimp dumpling has a much more delicate shell,
the broth has a fragrant wonton flavor, and the soup is filled with
fresh noodles.

Summer is the perfect season to utterly release your excess steam, do things out of the blue, experience new things in the warm sunshine, and be completely genuine. That’s why ladies must pick and wear the right summer jewelry. Not only as a flabbergasting fashion statement but as unique accessories pieces that will symbolize both this wonderful season and your personality. As it’s summertime, feel free and courageous to pick the most exquisite and stylish jewelry that will accompany your fierce individuality. Here is a full guide that will help you.To get more news about Necklace jewelry designers near me, you can visit jewelryhunt.net official website.
Be bold – asymmetrical earrings
The mismatching trends has never been so chic. Wearing funky,
asymmetrical represents fun and gorgeous reflection of your summer
feeling. Be brave and bold by wearing different shape and size earrings
that can go with any summer outfit you may choose. Don’t be afraid to
get creative and experiment with metals, colors, shapes, and sizes and
maximally revive the summer look. The best option is to keep one earring
hanging and have other smaller ones, or just buy an asymmetrical pair.
Be adventurous – colored gems
If you are looking for a bright, freshening, and all-summer look, then
you should go for multicolored gemstones. Wearing rings and pendants
with authentic gems like sapphire, moonstone, blue, and white topaz adds
a refreshing pop of color to the whole summer experience.
Be extravagant – station necklace
It might be hard to choose the perfect necklace for the summer as the
weather is usually hot and humid, thus wearing long, heavy necklaces, no
matter how fashionable they might be, can be tedious. Discover diamond
or zircon station necklace that has a timid vibe and luxurious
appearance. The best thing about a station necklace is petite gemstone
beads on a short necklace give you enough glamour and ingenuity to
complete a perfect summer look. Necklace chains can come in a variety of
options and lengths like a box, rope, anchor, ball, or Figaro chains,
but they all give out an elegant summer feel.
Be playful – rose gold jewelry
Summertime is when ladies get a nice tan, when the sun lights up your
skin and when your hair gets that beautiful glow. The rose gold jewelry
falls into the summer color category as it meticulously blends with
summer tanned color and vividly exudes your gracious appearance and
style. Rose gold metal is made from a combination of gold, copper, and a
little bit of silver, but this warm hue is an ideal color for summer
nights. Nowadays you can find earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and
various pendants made out of rose gold. This is one of the jewelry
essentials that is a must-have this summer as it incorporates
sophistication and originality.
Be enliven – the flower element
Flowers are truly a symbol of purity and life. As flowers grow they
enliven the world around them, and by wearing some flowery jewelry
pieces during summer you too can invite more living feelings into your
organism. Choose a delicate floral embellished bracelet, or opt for a
shimmery necklace with a lotus flower pendant. Have in mind that flowers
represent a booming life, and summertime is the perfect time to wear
jewelry with this dazzling ornament.
Be yourself – seize minimalism
In the end, some of the essential jewelry pieces are those that
represent your character. Even during summer, don’t fall for current
trends if you don’t like specific jewelry items like chokers, but rather
stick to minimalism trends that will never go out of style. Choose
small silver hoop earrings, or wear simple layering rings in different
metals. Very often wearing a simple and small earring in interesting
shapes can directly transform your summer look.
Seize the summer sun, enliven all your senses, and put on jewelry pieces that accompany your current mood. Styles constantly change, but some of the above-mentioned essential jewelry tips will always keep you in fashion.
face masks have been a matter of intense debate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Early on, several government officials and health authorities were discouraging healthy people from wearing masks—noting that there was little evidence for the practice’s ability to prevent spread among the general public and citing concerns that protective face coverings, which were desperately needed by healthcare workers, were in short supply. Gradually, however, governments began to either require or recommend that their citizens wear face masks in public. In June, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended widespread mask-use as a way to prevent coronavirus transmission. One model estimates that if at least 95 percent of people wear masks in public between June and October, approximately 33,000 deaths could be avoided in the US. To get more news about medical mask manufacturer, you can visit tnkme.com official website.
There are three broad categories of face coverings: tight-fitting masks known as N95 respirators that are designed to filter out both aerosols (often defined as particles that are smaller than 5 micrometers in diameter) and larger airborne droplets, loose-fitting surgical masks that are fluid resistant and capable of filtering out the bigger particles, and cloth masks, which vary widely based on how they’re made.
A growing body of research supports the use of all three types of masks, though the quality of evidence varies. One of the most comprehensive examinations to date, published in The Lancet in early June, systemically assessed 172 observational studies—mostly conducted in healthcare settings—looking at the effect of physical distancing, face masks, and eye protection on the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and two related coronaviruses. The results revealed that N95 respirators provided 96 percent protection from infection and surgical masks (or comparable reusable masks made with 12 to 16 layers of cotton or gauze) were 67 percent protective.
While research on cloth masks is much more limited, one group of researchers demonstrated that, in the lab, multilayer masks made of hybrid materials (cotton and silk, for example) could filter up to 90 percent of particles between 300 nanometers and 6 micrometers in size. However, it’s important to note this is only the case when there are no gaps around the edges of the mask, which are often present when people wear cloth or surgical masks. Indeed, the researchers’ findings suggest that gaps around any mask can reduce filtration by 60 percent or more. Still, scientists using computational models have reported that, in general, widespread use of facemasks, when combined with lockdowns, may help prevent future waves of infection.
“We’re recommending that N95s still be primarily saved for the healthcare situation,” says Kirsten Koehler, a professor of environmental health and engineering at Johns Hopkins University. “For individuals in the public, wearing a fabric mask is probably still the way to go.”There are several factors, including the number of layers and type of material they are made from, that contribute to how effective a mask will be, explains Raina MacIntrye, a professor of global biosecurity at the University of New South Wales in Australia. According to the WHO, fabric masks should ideally have at least three layers: an inner layer made with absorbent material (e.g., cotton), an outer layer with water-resistant material (e.g., polyester), and a middle layer (made with absorbent or water-resistant material) to act as a filter. In addition, MacIntrye adds, “the design should fit around the edges of the face because air will flow down the path of least resistance.” In other words, if there are gaps on the sides of your mask, your breath will slip through those cracks instead of being filtered through the mask itself.
Although evidence is building to support the use of masks to stem the coronavirus’ spread, many questions remain, such as whether the coronavirus spreads through aerosols or just through larger respiratory droplets. There is also little research on the efficacy of face masks, particularly cloth ones, in stopping the spread of COVID-19 in community settings, Julii Brainard, a senior research associate at Norwich Medical School in the UK, tells The Scientist in an email.
Amidst the uncertainty, what is clear is that mask wearing is not the only action people should take to slow the spread of COVID-19, Koehler says. “None of these masks are going to be perfect, especially against the aerosols. You want to continue to encourage people to work from home, avoid being crowds—things like that are going to work, regardless of how good your mask is.Wearing two face masks, or double masking, can substantially reduce a person’s exposure to coronavirus particles, according to a new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC report is a first of its kind from the agency, specifically addressing mask-wearing techniques and their efficacies. The CDC ultimately recommends two ways to improve how well face masks can protect you:To get more news about medical mask stock, you can visit tnkme.com official website.
When two people both exercise either of the above approaches, exposure to viral particles between them is reduced by upwards of 95 percent — more than double as efficient as the 42-to-44-percent efficiency the CDC saw from single surgical masks and single cloth masks.
As scientists and doctors identify new Covid-19 variants across the world and in the U.S., some Americans have been asking new questions about wearing face masks, notably whether they should double mask. In a recent interview with NBC’s “TODAY” show, Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that when it comes to wearing two masks to protect against the coronavirus, it "makes common sense" that more than one layer of masking would be more effective. We consulted medical experts about double masking and how to approach doing so.
On top of the CDC's new findings and subsequent guidance regarding double masks, interest in the practice had been steadily growing for some time. Jess Steier, DrPH, co-founder and CEO of healthcare data analytics company Vital Statistics Consulting, told us questions about double masking had been circulating lately given news about Covid-19 variants popping up across the world, including in the U.S. Andrea Love, PhD, a regional manager for Nexcelom Bioscience, added another potentially motivating factor for the interest: Although there is early evidence to suggest that the Covid-19 variants are more transmissible, it's still unclear how they will affect how the virus behaves. Love co-hosts the topical Unbiased Science Podcast with Steier.
While scientists and doctors don’t have exact answers yet, more highly transmissible variants may mean contracting the virus after shorter periods of exposure, for one thing. Thus, Love said the mitigation measures we take need to be more stringent, especially in regards to wearing face masks since they act as a “physical barrier to block these respiratory droplets.”
“Masks are not 100-percent effective, so you’re going to stop some droplets but not others,” explained Love. “If we’re trying to increase the number of droplets we block because the virus variants are more transmissible, that means we need better mask materials and more layers.”
More specifically, the CDC correlated different types of masks with
efficiencies in blocking particles small enough to be considered “most
important for transmitting SARS-CoV-2.”
How to double mask
Double masking involves wearing two masks, one on top of the other. Some
people opt for a medical-grade mask like an FDA-certified N95, KN95 or
KF94 and layer a reusable cloth face mask on top of it. If you do use a
disposable face, make sure to knot and tuck the mask for a tighter fit.
By eliminating the gap where germs and other contaminants can slip in, a
simple knot-and-tuck can reduce a person’s exposure to particles by
64.5 percent, the CDC reported. An easy way to see if the mask fits
improperly is if cold breath comes out from the sides of the mask or if
your glasses fog up.
If you don’t have access to a medical-grade mask, Love said you can also double up reusable cloth masks — the CDC recommends choosing fabric with two or more layers of tightly woven cotton, which is both machine-washable and breathable. “Overall, more layers is going to be better regardless,” Love noted, “because you’re providing a better physical barrier for these droplets.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) issued an update to coronavirus mask-wearing guidance for the first time in nearly six months. In the update, the health agency advises wearing a mask as part of “a comprehensive package of prevention and control measures” to limit the spread of COVID-19.To get more news about nonmedical dust proof mask, you can visit tnkme.com official website.
“A mask alone, even when used correctly, is insufficient to provide adequate protection or source control,” the Dec. 1 guidelines said. “Other infection prevention and control (IPC) measures include hand hygiene, physical distancing of at least 1 metre, avoidance of touching one’s face, respiratory etiquette, adequate ventilation in indoor settings, testing, contact tracing, quarantine and isolation.”The agency further stated that depending on the type of mask used, it can “be used either for protection of health persons or to prevent onward transmission (source control).” WHO recommends that anyone with suspected or confirmed coronavirus wear the mask while in the presence of others and that proper use, storage, cleaning and disposal are essential to effectiveness.
In areas of known or suspected community or cluster SARS-CoV-2
transmission: WHO advises that the general public should wear a
non-medical mask in indoor shared workplaces, schools, or outdoor
settings where physical distancing of at least 1 metre cannot be
maintained,” the guidelines stated. “If indoors, unless ventilation has
been assessed to be adequate, WHO advises that the general public should
wear a non-medical mask, regardless of whether physical distancing of
at least 1 metre can be maintained.”
“Children aged up to 5 years should not wear masks for source control,”
WHO’s guidelines state. “For children between 6 and 11 years of age, a
risk-based approach should be applied to the decision to use a mask;
factors to be considered in the risk-based approach include intensity of
SARS-CoV-2 transmission, child’s capacity to comply with the
appropriate use of masks and availability of appropriate adult
supervision, local social and cultural environment, and specific
settings such as households with elderly relatives, or schools.”
WHO was also careful to note that face shields, at present, are not considered to be equivalent to masks with respect to respiratory droplet protection or source control. In situations where a mask is not available or there is difficulty wearing a face mask, it may prove to be an inferior alternative.

The DIY makers who build their own watches
“It probably started on Reddit,” recalls Matthew Wright, an engineer from Brisbane, Australia. Online, he stumbled on a couple of posts from people who had made their own watches. He’d never even thought about doing something like that, but now he wanted to have a go too.To get more news about custom watch, you can visit koalaprint.com official website.
He started reading forums, researching tools and materials, and checking out where parts could be acquired, such as cases, dials, hands, strap and movement. “It becomes like a big jigsaw puzzle, you try to work out what pieces will fit together,” he says.
Before long, he had made his own watch to wear on his wedding day – a black dial in a stainless steel case, with tan strap. And then, he made four more in a similar style to give to his groomsmen.
“They still wear the watches on a regular basis – it’s quite a nice feeling when I see them wearing it,” he says. Thanks in part to the availability of information over the web, many people just as curious as Wright have embarked on their own home-made watch projects. And some have even launched businesses as a result. But how easy is it to get started?
A quick hit on Google will bring up a wave of results that can kick things off for enthusiasts. There’s the Reddit Watch forum, the TimeZone Watch School, which offers courses via the web for a price, discussions on the WatchUSeek forum, and hundreds of YouTube videos aimed at makers.
People can buy kits for assembling watches or individual parts online with relative ease, too. This is the exact rabbit-hole that Wright fell down when he started researching.
“You see other people who’ve made little changes to watches, they’ve changed dials or whatever, and the next thing, I stumbled across websites where you can buy the cases completely empty,” he recalls.People like Wright, who have a bit of experience with making their own bits of tech, will already have some of the necessary tools and know-how to get going, of course. One such person is Mike Hamende. By day, Hamende is a nuclear power plant operator in Illinois. By night, he makes things – from drones to robots to toys and his own circuit boards.
“My hobby is design and fabrication, and at the time a watch felt like a natural project to attempt,” he says, remembering how he embarked on making his first watch, with a glow-in-the-dark dial. He’s since made two more with mechanical movements. Initially, he decided to take apart some watches in his own collection to try and learn how everything slotted together. Then, he found technical details about the movements online – importantly, these provided the detailed dimensions he needed to plan his design.
“Basically, those drawings tell you the size and shape of the cavity you need to have inside your watch case for the movement to fit properly,” he says.
The whole thing was modelled in computer software and then brought to life with the help of tools, like a ‘fly cutter’, that could mill and shape the materials he was using.A hobby is one thing. But some take their watch-designing even further. In 2013, Jan Binnendijk, a maker in the Netherlands, found an old, broken watch once worn by his father. In the process of taking it apart and fixing it, he fashioned his own parts – including a case, dial and hands. By the time he’d finished, much of the device was brand new.
Later, he published photos of his project on a Dutch watch forum. “That drew the attention of a guy who was starting his own watch company. He needed a supplier of cases,” recalls Binnendijk.
A team of five people eventually came together to make 52 watches with pre-made movements. They sold them for 500 euros ($615) each, which Binnendijk says covered the cost of materials.
